(27 June 2012)

HKVCC was invited by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong to participate in a Workshop on Vietnam’s Economic, Trade and Tourism Promotion in Hong Kong on 27 June 2012. Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of HKVCC, was one of the speakers of the Workshop. The Workshop aimed to provide first-hand information concerning rules and procedures, chances and opportunities to do business in Vietnam as well as to exchange views and information about Vietnam and Hong Kong. The Workshop was well-attended by HKVCC members.

Other speakers were H.E., Mr Le Khanh Hai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Mrs Nguyen Thi Nha, Consul General of Vietnam in Hong Kong, Mr Pham Van Cong, Deputy Consul General and Counsellor of Trade and Finance of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Mr Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Assistant to the Director General, Department of Economic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of HKVCC, gave his speech at the Workshop. He said “I consider it is my duty to promote the links and business opportunities between Vietnam and Hong Kong in trade, commerce, arts and culture, tourism and in fact all other sectors. Vietnam, with its youthful population, offers unlimited openings for profitable investment and mutually beneficial cooperation in many fields.”

On tourism, Dr Choi added that “Vietnam has been particularly blessed with its scenery – it is beautiful and varied. From the Highlands to the Red River and Mekong deltas, it encompasses dense tropical forests, limestone peaks, mighty rivers and waterfalls, fertile rice-growing regions and sandy beaches. And it is no coincidence that one of the most popular souvenir items for tourists to Vietnam to take home with them is an original painting, usually of scenery or city street-scenes.”

H.E., Mr Le Khanh Hai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam gives his presentation at the Workshop.
